A self-styled godman has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the murder of three people whose bodies were discovered inside a parked car near the Peeragarhi flyover in outer Delhi. The accused, identified as Kamruddin alias 'Baba', allegedly fed the victims poison-laced laddoos (sweets) during a sham tantric ritual promising "dhanvarsha" or sudden wealth. The incident came to light on Sunday, February 8, when a PCR call alerted authorities to three unconscious individuals in the vehicle, who were later declared dead at a hospital.
The victims, two men and a woman, showed no external injuries or signs of struggle, initially leading police to consider suicide or accidental poisoning. An elderly man, Randhir Singh (76), was found in the driver's seat, while Shiv Naresh Singh (47) and Laxmi Devi (40) were in the back. A plastic bottle and glasses with poison traces were recovered from the scene. Investigations revealed the trio had been lured by the accused, who convinced them to participate in a ritual to multiply money. They reportedly carried Rs 2 lakh in cash for the purported ceremony. Kamruddin accompanied them in the car, persuaded them to consume liquor, cold drinks, and the poisoned laddoos, then fled with the money after they lost consciousness, abandoning the vehicle on the flyover.
Police arrested Kamruddin following technical surveillance, field inquiries, and questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to preparing the poison-mixed laddoos as part of a premeditated plan for financial gain. Authorities described him as an occult practitioner operating a tantric center in Loni and Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. He is also suspected in other murder cases in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, with police probing possible links to additional crimes involving similar modus operandi of exploiting victims' beliefs in supernatural wealth rituals.

The case highlights recurring concerns over fraudulent self-styled godmen who exploit vulnerable individuals through manipulation and false promises of prosperity. Such incidents often involve tantric or occult practices that prey on superstition, leading to tragic outcomes. Delhi Police have emphasized the importance of public awareness to avoid falling for such scams. The accused faces charges of murder and robbery, with further investigation ongoing to determine if others were involved or if this forms part of a larger pattern.
The triple murder has shocked the local community and reignited debates on regulating fraudulent spiritual practitioners. As the investigation continues, authorities are examining forensic evidence, including the poison used and any prior interactions between the accused and the victims. The episode serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by exploitation under the guise of religious or mystical rituals.
