India on Monday raised strong concerns with Poland over what it described as “selective and unfair targeting” of New Delhi in relation to its trade ties with Moscow amid the Russia-Ukraine war. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also urged Warsaw to ensure zero tolerance towards terrorism and avoid extending any form of support to Pakistan.
The issue was discussed during talks between Jaishankar and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in New Delhi, where both sides reviewed the expanding India-Poland Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on key global and regional developments.
India has repeatedly conveyed its discomfort over what it sees as pressure tactics, including tariffs and political signalling, aimed at influencing its independent foreign policy decisions regarding the Ukraine conflict. Jaishankar flagged these concerns, stressing that such approaches undermine fair and balanced international engagement.

The External Affairs Minister also cautioned Poland against providing direct or indirect support to Pakistan, particularly on matters linked to cross-border terrorism. He expressed hope that Warsaw would maintain a firm stance of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism in all forms.
Welcoming the Polish delegation, Jaishankar noted that the meeting was taking place amid significant global uncertainty, making diplomatic dialogue between countries from different regions more critical than ever. He highlighted the growing convergence between India and Poland on strategic issues.
India and Poland elevated their ties to a strategic partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Warsaw in August 2024. The two sides are now set to review the Action Plan 2024–28 and explore deeper cooperation in trade, defence, security, clean technologies, and digital innovation.
