Three people were killed and five others injured after a fire broke out in a small residential house in the Kho-Nagorian area of Jaipur on Tuesday, police said. The incident triggered a swift emergency response, with fire services and police teams rushing to the spot to carry out rescue operations and prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. According to officials, the fire broke out inside the house under unclear circumstances and spread rapidly, leaving several occupants trapped before they could escape. Residents in the vicinity alerted emergency services after noticing thick smoke and flames emerging from the building.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after a sustained effort, though by then significant damage had already occurred inside the house. Medical officials confirmed that three of the injured persons later died due to severe burn injuries. SMS Hospital superintendent Dr Mrinal Joshi said the victims were brought in critical condition and succumbed despite receiving immediate medical attention. He added that the remaining injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment and are being closely monitored.

Jaipur East Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Singhal said that three individuals were critically injured in the incident and were rushed to hospital without delay. He further confirmed that five other people were rescued from the house during the operation and were also shifted to medical facilities for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable but under observation.

Police officials stated that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined and a detailed investigation has been initiated. Early assessments are being carried out to examine whether the blaze may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, a gas cylinder leak, or another accidental source. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities at this stage.

The incident prompted a coordinated response from fire brigade units, local police, and emergency medical teams, who worked together to evacuate survivors and secure the area. The house and surrounding lane were cordoned off to ensure safety and facilitate rescue operations, while forensic teams are expected to inspect the site for further evidence.

Officials said a comprehensive inquiry will be conducted to determine the sequence of events that led to the fire and to assess whether any safety lapses contributed to the severity of the incident. The tragedy has raised concerns among local residents about fire safety standards in densely populated residential areas, where narrow lanes and closely packed structures often complicate emergency response efforts.
