The Congress party is poised for a seismic shift as AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal announced a “massive organisational reshuffle” following an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial.
With 2025 dubbed the year of restructuring, the party aims to reinvigorate its machinery, empowering district unit chiefs and aligning its mission with the social justice legacy of Sardar Patel.
Venugopal revealed that detailed guidelines for the overhaul are in the works, with general secretaries and in-charges tasked to execute the plan. “We’re empowering DCC presidents—enhancing their duties and powers has been approved, and we’ll roll it out soon,” he told reporters.
The move signals a bottom-up approach to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence, a strategy echoed by AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot. “District units will have more accountability, responsibility, and political strength,” Pilot emphasized, hinting at a revitalized structure reaching villages and booths.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge set the tone, accusing the BJP and RSS of a “conspiracy” to hijack Patel’s legacy. “Sardar Patel lives in our hearts. We’re taking his vision forward,” he declared, framing the party’s “Nyay Path” as a continuation of Patel’s fight for rights and freedoms. The CWC resolution vowed to follow this path, blending ideology with action through mass outreach like padyatras.
With the Ahmedabad Session themed “Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh” set to conclude on April 9, the Congress is gearing up for electoral battles, promising an aggressive fight against the BJP-NDA juggernaut. A new chapter beckons.
