Iran has suspended all flights across the country following a fresh escalation in hostilities with Israel, raising fears of a renewed regional conflict in the Middle East. According to Iranian media reports, the country's Civil Aviation Organization ordered the suspension of all airport operations until further notice after a series of military exchanges between the two nations. The decision comes amid growing concerns over regional security and the safety of civilian air travel.

The disruption began with the closure of Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, Iran's primary international gateway, after reports of Iranian missile strikes targeting Israel. Authorities initially halted incoming flights to the airport before expanding restrictions nationwide. The airport had only resumed operations in April after remaining closed for several weeks during an earlier period of heightened tensions in the region.

Over the weekend, Iran and Israel reportedly exchanged strikes targeting locations within each other's territories. Following the attacks, Iran closed portions of its airspace around Tehran. Reports from Iranian media indicated that missile launches were carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which claimed responsibility for operations involving Kheibar Shekan missiles aimed at Israeli military targets. The developments marked one of the most serious escalations since recent efforts to reduce hostilities in the region.

At the same time, reports suggested that Israeli strikes hit multiple locations inside Iran. Explosions were reported in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, and several cities in western Iran, while additional blasts were reported near Karaj. The incidents intensified concerns that the fragile stability achieved in recent months could quickly unravel, potentially drawing additional regional actors into the conflict.

The latest escalation also extended beyond Iran and Israel. Despite an existing ceasefire arrangement with Lebanon, Israel reportedly conducted airstrikes in Beirut. In response, Iranian state media said Tehran launched missile attacks against Israel. Meanwhile, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli targets and warned that they could resume operations against Israel-linked vessels in the Red Sea, further heightening tensions across the region.

International leaders have called for restraint as fears of a broader conflict grow. US President Donald Trump reportedly urged both sides to halt military action, stating that further retaliation was unnecessary. Despite the exchanges of fire, Iran's joint military command later announced that it was suspending offensive operations. However, with air travel halted nationwide and military tensions still high, uncertainty remains over whether the latest confrontation will subside or evolve into a wider regional crisis.
