A technical malfunction on an IndiGo flight led to a brief but uncomfortable ordeal for passengers after the aircraft’s air-conditioning and lighting systems reportedly failed, leaving the cabin hot and dark for nearly 25 minutes before take-off from Vadodara airport on Monday.
Flight 6E657, scheduled to operate from Vadodara to Delhi, encountered a technical snag on the ground after a reported issue with its systems, including a failure in the aircraft’s Global Positioning System (GPS). The disruption occurred before departure, preventing normal cabin operations and delaying the flight’s take-off preparations.
Passengers on board were forced to endure rising temperatures inside the aircraft as the air-conditioning system stopped functioning. With the cabin lights also affected, the environment became dim and increasingly uncomfortable. According to accounts, travellers attempted to cope with the heat by fanning themselves using in-flight flyers placed in seat pockets.

A video of the incident later surfaced on social media, showing passengers visibly distressed and using paper materials to circulate air in the stagnant cabin. The footage quickly went viral, drawing attention to the discomfort experienced during the delay and raising concerns about onboard passenger conditions during technical faults.
The situation was eventually resolved after ground teams addressed the technical issue, allowing normal pre-departure procedures to resume. While no injuries were reported, the incident highlights the operational challenges airlines can face when critical systems malfunction before take-off, particularly in confined cabin environments where ventilation and power systems are essential for passenger comfort and safety.
