The 12th India-Sweden Innovation Day, held on Sunday, electrified the global stage with a bold focus on sustainable development, setting the tone for impactful collaborations ahead of COP 30. Co-hosted by the Embassy of India in Sweden, the event rallied policymakers, industry pioneers, and innovators under the theme “Co-Creating a Sustainable Future: Scaling Innovation Through Partnership.”
The summit spotlighted transformative solutions in clean energy, artificial intelligence, green manufacturing, sustainable mobility, and the circular economy. A key highlight was the India-Sweden Industry Transition Partnership (ITP), launched at COP 28, which is driving decarbonization in heavy industries like steel and cement. This initiative underscores both nations’ commitment to slashing carbon emissions and fostering low-carbon industrial growth.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari emphasized the deepening ties between India and Sweden, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2018 visit to Sweden and the 2019 visit of Sweden’s King and Queen to India. “These milestones opened doors for stronger trade, investment, and innovation,” Gadkari said. “Through programs like LEAD IT 2.0, we’re building a greener planet with smart transport and low-carbon industries. Events like this unite us to innovate and collaborate for a sustainable future.”
