The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai between April 24 and April 28, warning of hot and humid conditions across the city. The advisory also notes a possibility of light rain or thunderstorms during the afternoons or evenings on select days, even as temperatures and humidity levels remain elevated.
According to the forecast, Mumbai may experience isolated spells of light rain or thunderstorms on April 24 and April 25. However, from April 26 onwards, weather conditions are expected to turn largely dry and are likely to remain so until April 28. The IMD has cautioned residents to prepare for discomfort due to high humidity during this transition period.
Neighbouring regions including Thane and Raigad are also expected to face similar conditions. Thane may see hot and humid weather with occasional light rain or thunderstorms in the coming days before dry conditions set in. Raigad, meanwhile, is likely to remain largely hot and humid over the next few days without significant relief.

In other parts of Maharashtra, weather patterns vary. Pune is expected to receive some relief, with thunderstorms, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph forecast for April 24 and 25. Light rain may continue briefly on April 26 before dry weather returns. Meanwhile, districts like Wardha, Chandrapur, Amravati, and Akola have been placed under yellow alert due to possible heatwave conditions on different days.
The IMD has also highlighted that regions such as Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar are likely to remain mostly dry, while areas like Nagpur may stay stable but could still witness isolated heatwave conditions around April 26. Some southern districts including Solapur, Sangli, Satara, and Kolhapur may see intermittent thunderstorms and rainfall during the forecast period.
Alongside the forecast, the IMD has issued public safety guidelines urging residents to avoid direct sun exposure, stay hydrated, and wear light cotton clothing. People have also been advised to take precautions during outdoor activities and watch for symptoms of heat-related illnesses such as dizziness, headache, nausea, and excessive sweating.
