The owner of a car involved in an accident that left a woman biker injured in Gurugram has claimed that he was not driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Manish, who owns the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, said his friend Kalyan had borrowed the car from his family on Sunday and was behind the wheel when it allegedly struck the motorcycle and fled the scene.

The woman biker, identified as Sia, was riding her Aprilia RS 457 with members of her riding group on Golf Course Road when the incident occurred. The collision was recorded on an action camera mounted on her motorcycle. In a video shared on social media, Sia said the car approached her while its occupants allegedly behaved aggressively and asked her to stop. She also claimed that the men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

According to Sia’s account, she attempted to continue riding so that the car could not block her path. A friend travelling behind her reportedly tried to protect her and prevent the vehicle from coming alongside her again. However, the car allegedly continued following her before the driver attempted to cut in front of the motorcycle, causing the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to hit her bike and throw her off it.

The car then allegedly fled the location. Sia said one of her friends chased the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The car reportedly halted at a traffic signal, where the driver was confronted, but he allegedly denied responsibility and drove away. Sia later appealed to the Gurugram Police to take action against motorists who endanger other road users and leave the scene after causing accidents.

Manish, a resident of Palwal in Haryana, confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident was registered in his name. He said he was serving in the Army and was currently on duty in Assam when the accident took place. According to him, his family had handed the car keys to his friend Kalyan on Sunday, and he only became aware of the incident after the video circulated widely and people began calling him.

The allegations have drawn attention to concerns over road safety, reckless driving and the conduct of motorists involved in hit-and-run incidents. Sia said she felt unsafe on Gurugram’s roads and urged the authorities to act against those who drive aggressively and flee after collisions. The identity of the driver has been identified as Kalyan based on the car owner’s statement, while the allegations and circumstances of the accident remain subject to police investigation.
