The Union government has notified revised wage rates under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G), with the new structure coming into effect from July 1. The rollout marks a nationwide implementation of the updated rural employment guarantee framework aimed at increasing income security for rural workers and reducing wage disparities across states.
Under the revised structure, the government has introduced an interim base wage of ₹300 per day, ensuring that no worker enrolled under the scheme receives less than this amount. Officials said the reform is intended to strengthen livelihood support in rural areas while aligning wage standards across different regions. The revised framework raises the national average daily wage to ₹327.4, reflecting an overall upward adjustment in the remuneration structure.
The Ministry of Rural Development said the new system has been designed to expand employment guarantees and improve earnings under the programme. As part of the changes, the employment entitlement has been increased to 125 days, offering additional work opportunities for rural households. The government has also stated that the largest wage increases have been directed towards states where earlier wage levels were comparatively lower, with the aim of reducing regional inequalities in rural incomes.

Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the rollout of the VB-G RAM G Act represents a significant step towards building a “Viksit Bharat” through strengthened rural economies. In a statement issued through the Press Information Bureau (PIB), he said the government remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every poor household and that rural workers receive fair compensation for their labour.
He further added that the revised framework not only increases wages but also expands the scope of guaranteed employment, helping rural workers secure more stable income opportunities. According to him, the policy is designed to provide greater support to regions that have historically lagged in wage levels, thereby ensuring more balanced development across states.
The implementation of the revised wage structure is expected to have a direct impact on rural employment programmes across the country. With higher guaranteed wages and an expanded employment ceiling, policymakers believe the updated framework will improve financial security for millions of rural workers while also strengthening participation in government-supported livelihood schemes.
