Five Indian nationals were injured after a fire broke out at an industrial facility in Abu Dhabi early Saturday, following what authorities described as a missile and drone attack linked to Iran. The incident occurred in the Khalifa Economic Zones, a major industrial hub in the emirate.
According to a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi government media office, the injuries sustained by the five individuals ranged from minor to moderate. Emergency services responded promptly, and authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control, with no immediate reports of fatalities.
The UAE Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems were actively engaged in intercepting incoming cruise missiles and drones launched by Iran. The attempted strikes are part of a broader escalation in the Gulf region, where tensions have intensified over the past month amid an ongoing regional conflict.

Officials stated that the fires in the Khalifa Economic Zones were caused by debris from a successfully intercepted ballistic missile. Two separate fire incidents were reported in the area, both of which were contained by response teams. Investigations are underway to assess the full extent of the damage to infrastructure.
The attack underscores growing security concerns in the Gulf, as regional powers face increasing threats from missile and drone warfare. The UAE has previously strengthened its defence systems to counter such risks, particularly following earlier incidents targeting critical infrastructure.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the condition of the injured individuals or the specific facilities affected. Meanwhile, officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and safeguarding key economic zones as geopolitical tensions continue to unfold in the region.
