In a strategic show of unity, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accompanied by key cabinet colleagues, met Governor C P Radhakrishnan, the BJP-led NDA’s vice-presidential candidate, at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Monday. The informal yet significant meeting, held ahead of the September 9, 2025, vice-presidential elections, underscored the NDA’s efforts to consolidate support for Radhakrishnan’s candidacy.
The delegation included prominent cabinet ministers such as Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Ganesh Naik from the BJP, Pratap Sarnaik and Dada Bhuse from Shiv Sena, and Aditi Tatkare from the NCP, reflecting the coalition’s broad backing.
Sources described the meeting as a gesture of solidarity, with discussions likely centered on mobilizing support for Radhakrishnan, who faces former Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy, the Opposition INDIA bloc’s nominee, in the race for the nation’s second-highest constitutional post.
Following the meeting, Radhakrishnan hosted the ministers for lunch, reinforcing the camaraderie within the NDA ranks. The timing of the visit, just weeks before the high-stakes polls, highlights the coalition’s focus on ensuring a unified front to secure Radhakrishnan’s victory in this critical electoral contest.
