A young woman reportedly jumped into the Chenab River from the Prem Nagar bridge in Doda after telling people nearby that she intended to end her life. The woman was identified as Payal Devi, daughter of Krishan Lal. Her family and authorities were alerted soon after the incident, and search operations were launched in the river to locate her.

According to reports, Payal had been returning home from a local fair on a motorcycle with a person known to her from the village. During the journey, her dupatta reportedly became caught in the motorcycle, prompting the rider to stop the vehicle so it could be removed. The incident occurred near the Prem Nagar bridge, where Payal subsequently moved towards the edge of the bridge.

People present at the location reportedly noticed her actions and attempted to persuade her not to take the step. The person accompanying her also contacted her father and informed him about the situation. Her father then spoke to her over the phone and tried to convince her to reconsider her decision, but she reportedly maintained that she had made up her mind.

Payal’s final reported conversation with her father has drawn attention to the incident. According to reports, she told him, “Bye Bye Papa” before jumping into the Chenab River. Police, personnel from the State Disaster Response Force and local residents have been involved in the search operation. Efforts are continuing to trace Payal, though she had not been located at the time of the latest available information.
