Seventeen Delhi Metro stations remained closed for the third consecutive day on Friday due to security concerns amid the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest near Jantar Mantar. The temporary closures have affected travel for office-goers, students and other commuters across central Delhi.

According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the stations were closed from 7:30 a.m. until further instructions. The affected stations are Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium and Jhandewalan.

The DMRC clarified that while entry and exit at these stations remain suspended, interchange facilities will continue to operate at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations, allowing passengers to switch between metro lines without exiting the stations.

The same 17 metro stations had also remained closed on Wednesday and Thursday as authorities implemented security measures in response to the ongoing protests. The continued restrictions have disrupted daily commuting for thousands of passengers travelling through central parts of the national capital.

The station closures have also impacted access to nearby institutions and offices. According to the report, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) filed a plea before the Supreme Court on Wednesday, stating that the closure of several metro stations had created difficulties for lawyers and litigants travelling to court.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has stated that the stations will remain closed until further instructions from the authorities. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly while security arrangements continue in the affected areas.
