Delhi Police have arrested two sharpshooters, including a former state-level kabaddi player, for their alleged role in a brazen firing incident at a residence in Aman Vihar, Rohini, on July 29, 2025. The accused, identified as Himanshu alias Helicopter (22), a once-promising athlete, and Aditya alias Bhukha (19), were apprehended with a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the crime, police confirmed on Friday.
The incident unfolded around 10:30 pm when a PCR call reported two men on a motorcycle firing at the home of Ankit Yadav, a sales executive with Plaza Cables, before fleeing. Yadav, who was home with his family, heard a gunshot and saw the assailants escaping. An empty cartridge was recovered at the scene, prompting a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajeev Ranjan said police analyzed over 100 CCTV clips within a two-kilometer radius, tracing the motorcycle’s registration to Aditya’s uncle. Technical surveillance and field intelligence identified Himanshu as the shooter and Aditya as the driver.
On July 30, the duo was intercepted near Sukhi Nahar in Kirari. Himanshu, riding pillion, confessed to firing the shot, with the pistol and cartridges recovered from him, while the motorcycle was seized from Aditya. Himanshu’s descent into crime began through a friend, leading to his association with Amit Maan, a notorious figure declared a “bad character” at Prem Nagar police station. Himanshu has two prior cases at Aman Vihar, while Aditya was linked to a 2021 murder case at Prem Nagar.

The motive remains under investigation, with police probing potential gang involvement. The arrests come amid heightened concerns over rising gun violence in Delhi, with recent cases like the June 2025 daylight shooting in Mehrauli, where three were arrested, and a November 2024 Dwarka vendor killing linked to extortion. Delhi’s criminal landscape, often tied to local rivalries and organized gangs like the Kala Jathedi syndicate, underscores the challenge of curbing such incidents. Further interrogations are expected to reveal whether the Aman Vihar attack was driven by personal enmity or broader criminal networks.
