Security arrangements in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have reached peak intensity ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026. Delhi Police and paramilitary forces intensified multi-layered checks, patrolling, and vehicle inspections at all major entry and exit points throughout Sunday, closely monitoring the movement of people and goods into the capital.
A key highlight of this year’s security architecture is the deployment of cutting-edge technology. Delhi Police will use AI-enabled smart glasses—a first for Republic Day parade duties—worn by selected personnel along the Kartavya Path route to monitor crowds in real time and detect potential threats swiftly. The force has integrated advanced Facial Recognition Systems (FRS) and video analytics across its extensive CCTV network, enabling faster and more accurate identification of suspects.
Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mahala emphasized the tech-driven approach: “We are making full use of technology-driven solutions from a security perspective. All CCTV cameras will be equipped with video analytics and FRS, and this time we are also using specially developed cameras and wearable glasses.”

New Delhi District Police have established a robust multi-layered cordon involving Delhi Police and paramilitary units across the parade area. The entire Kartavya Path zone remains under 24×7 surveillance through high-resolution cameras linked to facial recognition tech. Specialised anti-drone units and sniper teams positioned on high-rise buildings are actively monitoring the airspace and surroundings to counter any aerial or elevated threats.
As a preventive measure, extensive verification drives are underway in hotels, guest houses, tenant accommodations, and among domestic help across the district to neutralise any possible risks. These comprehensive steps aim to ensure a safe, secure, and incident-free national celebration.
With Republic Day just hours away, the heightened security reflects Delhi Police’s commitment to leveraging innovation alongside traditional measures for foolproof arrangements.
