Delhi Police have arrested two men, identified as Asif and Zubair, for the brutal murder of 22-year-old Komal, whose body was discovered in a Najafgarh drain in Dwarka on March 17. The chilling crime, which unfolded earlier this month, has sent shockwaves through the capital, with authorities piecing together the events that led to her death.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh, Komal was strangled by Asif, her acquaintance and a cab driver, on March 12 following a heated argument. Asif, with assistance from his friend Zubair, then tied a stone to her body and dumped it in the drain to conceal the crime. The body remained undiscovered until Monday, when locals spotted it floating in the canal, prompting police action. A missing person’s report, filed by Komal’s family at Seemapuri police station on March 13, provided the initial lead.
Police launched an intensive investigation, leveraging CCTV footage and local inquiries to track down the perpetrators. The duo was apprehended on Wednesday, March 19, bringing swift closure to the case’s early stages. Sources revealed that Komal, a call center employee from Sundar Nagri in Nand Nagari, had known Asif for some time, though the precise nature of their relationship remains under scrutiny. The motive behind the killing is yet to be fully established, with investigators exploring whether personal disputes or other factors triggered the fatal confrontation.
The arrests have highlighted safety concerns in Delhi, particularly for women navigating personal and professional spheres. A murder case has been registered at Chhawla police station, and authorities are probing potential involvement of others. As the investigation deepens, the focus remains on uncovering the full story behind this tragic loss of life.
