A devastating fire in the Palam area of South Delhi has left a family shattered, claiming nine lives across three generations. The tragedy has drawn attention to the fate of five brothers from the Kashyap family, each of whom faced a different outcome in the blaze. While two brothers lost their lives, two others sustained injuries during desperate attempts to escape, and one survived unharmed as he was away on a trip at the time of the incident.
The victims were members of the family of Rajender Kashyap, a businessman and head of a local market committee. Among those who died in the fire were his wife Lado, two sons, a daughter, two daughters-in-law, and three granddaughters. Kashyap himself was in Goa when the incident occurred and returned to find his home destroyed and his family devastated by the loss.
The two surviving sons who were present during the fire are currently undergoing treatment for injuries sustained while trying to flee the flames. Another son escaped physical harm as he was travelling in Himachal Pradesh with his family but returned to a scene of immense loss. The incident has left the surviving members grappling with emotional trauma and the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.

The tragedy has also sparked a wider debate over fire safety compliance in the national capital, with questions being raised about enforcement of regulations. Authorities are expected to continue their investigation into the cause of the fire and any lapses that may have contributed to the scale of the disaster.
