A Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, until August 13. Special Judge Chander Jit Singh issued the order after Rana appeared via video conference following the expiry of his previous custody term.
Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-Canadian and associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Coleman Headley, was extradited from the U.S. on April 10, 2025, after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed his appeal. He faces charges of conspiracy, murder, and terrorism for allegedly aiding Headley’s reconnaissance for the 2008 attacks, which killed 166 people across Mumbai’s key sites, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a supplementary chargesheet, citing Rana’s non-cooperation and plans for similar attacks in Delhi. His trial continues at Patiala House Court, with Tihar Jail reporting on his health after concerns raised by his counsel.
