A woman sustained minor injuries after a violent chain-snatching attempt by two unidentified men in the Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) area of New Delhi, police said. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight on Sunday, has raised concerns about public safety after a CCTV video capturing the attack surfaced online.
According to police, the incident took place around 4 pm near Bangiya Samaj, a socio-cultural organisation located close to Market No. 1 in CR Park. Two men, one riding a motorcycle and the other on foot, allegedly followed the woman before attempting to snatch her gold chain. When she resisted, one of the attackers reportedly assaulted her with a knife, causing minor injuries.
The victim managed to escape the attackers and reached a nearby hospital on her own, where she received treatment and was later discharged. She subsequently approached the police and filed a formal complaint. Based on her statement, a case has been registered at the local police station, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

CCTV footage from the area shows the sequence of events leading up to the attack, including the suspects trailing the woman before confronting her. The video captures a brief struggle after the snatching attempt, during which the victim raises an alarm. Despite several bystanders being present at the scene, no one is seen intervening during the assault.
The footage further shows the accused pulling out a knife and attacking the woman before fleeing the spot on the motorcycle. The woman is then seen calling for help as the attackers escape. Police have seized the motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime and are analysing surveillance footage to identify the suspects.
Local residents have expressed concern over the brazen nature of the crime, noting that such incidents occurring in daylight reflect growing security challenges in the area. Police officials stated that multiple teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused, and efforts are ongoing to ensure swift action in the case.
