The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reopened the application window for the 22nd Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), giving candidates who missed the earlier registration deadline another opportunity to apply. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications until September 1, 2026. The reopened application window will remain available from August 25 to September 1. The CBSE said the decision was taken in view of the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification for eligible teachers.

According to the board, the additional opportunity is intended to give eligible teachers reasonable time to comply with the statutory requirement of acquiring the prescribed TET qualification. The decision also aims to ensure that candidates who could not register during the earlier window are not denied an opportunity to apply. In its official notice, the CBSE said the Supreme Court had emphasised the need to provide eligible teachers with adequate time to meet the TET qualification requirement. Following the ruling, the board decided to reopen the online application portal for all eligible candidates who had not been able to use the previous registration window.

The notification for the 22nd CTET was originally released on May 8, 2026. The initial online application process began on May 11 and continued until June 10, after which the portal was closed. With the application window now reopened, candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can complete their registration during the additional period. Applicants should ensure that the details submitted in the application form are accurate and that all required steps are completed before the September 1 deadline.

The reopening is particularly relevant for teachers and other eligible candidates who need to fulfil the TET requirement. The reopening of the application portal means that the board will now process additional applications before finalising the arrangements for the examination. The CBSE had earlier planned to conduct the CTET examination in September.

The board is expected to announce the revised examination date after the reopened application portal closes on September 1. Candidates who apply during the additional window should therefore regularly check official CTET and CBSE updates for information about the exam date, admit cards and other instructions. For now, the important deadline for applicants is September 1, 2026. The reopened window provides one more opportunity for eligible candidates who missed the original May-June registration period to apply for the 22nd CTET.
