Vote counting in parts of Haryana was temporarily halted after the Indian National Congress lodged a complaint alleging irregularities in the counting process, officials said on Tuesday. The disruption occurred during the ongoing counting of votes in the state, prompting election authorities to pause the exercise to review the concerns raised by the party.
Congress leaders claimed that certain procedures were not being followed properly during the counting process and demanded immediate intervention from election officials. Party representatives present at the counting centres reportedly objected to the handling of ballot units and the verification process, urging authorities to ensure strict adherence to election rules.
Following the complaint, election officials briefly stopped the counting in the affected centre to examine the allegations and maintain transparency. Officials said the pause was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring that the process remained fair and in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Election Commission.

Authorities also said that election observers and returning officers were reviewing the situation before allowing the counting to resume. Security arrangements at the counting centres were maintained to prevent any disturbances as party representatives continued to monitor the proceedings.
Political tensions remained high outside the counting venues, with workers from different parties gathering to track developments. However, officials said the situation was under control and urged political representatives to cooperate with the counting process.
The Election Commission has not yet issued a detailed statement on the matter, but officials indicated that any grievances raised by political parties would be examined thoroughly to uphold the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.
