Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that President Droupadi Murmu will formally launch the Pink Mobility Card (also referred to as the Pink National Common Mobility Card or Saheli Pink Smart Card) on March 2, 2026, at a grand event titled ‘Sashakt Nari, Samriddh Delhi’ at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The initiative, inspired by the Central government's ‘One Nation, One Card’ scheme, aims to empower women residents of the national capital by providing free travel on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses while enabling seamless paid access to other public transport systems like the Delhi Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) through a single smart card.
Under the scheme, three types of National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) will be introduced: the Pink Card exclusively for eligible women residents of Delhi, offering free bus travel; the Blue Card for general commuters; and the Orange Card for monthly pass users. The Pink Card targets women holding ration cards or meeting specified eligibility criteria, with selected beneficiaries expected to receive their cards during the launch ceremony. CM Gupta described the move as a “major gift” for Delhi's women, emphasizing enhanced mobility, safety, and financial relief in daily commuting amid rising transport costs.
The launch forms part of a broader set of women-centric welfare initiatives by the Rekha Gupta-led government, including other schemes focused on empowerment and support for daughters and women in the capital. President Murmu's presence underscores the national significance of the program, aligning with efforts to promote gender-inclusive urban development and public transport accessibility. The event is anticipated to draw large crowds, with arrangements for presentations to initial beneficiaries highlighting the scheme's immediate rollout.

This development comes as Delhi continues to prioritize citizen-centric policies under the current administration, building on existing efforts to improve women's safety and convenience in public spaces. Officials have urged eligible women to stay updated through official channels for application processes and distribution details post-launch. The Pink Mobility Card is expected to significantly benefit millions of women commuters by reducing out-of-pocket expenses and encouraging greater use of eco-friendly public transport options.
As the city gears up for Monday's inauguration, the announcement has generated positive buzz on social media and among women's groups, who view it as a progressive step toward more equitable urban mobility. With the conflict in the Middle East causing unrelated aviation disruptions, the focus on domestic welfare initiatives like this provides a counterbalance of positive governance news for Delhi residents. Authorities continue to finalize logistics for the event to ensure smooth execution and wide participation.
