Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss a range of issues related to the state's development, internal security and welfare initiatives. The meeting focused on strengthening Centre-state cooperation in areas including law and order, industrial growth, cooperative sector development and the implementation of welfare schemes. Majhi also sought continued support from the Central government to accelerate Odisha's development agenda.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said Odisha was progressing on a path of rapid development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the support of the Union government. He briefed the Home Minister on the state's development initiatives, internal security situation and law and order, while highlighting the government's efforts to improve governance and public service delivery. Majhi emphasised the importance of continued Central assistance in sustaining the state's growth and development.

Majhi thanked Amit Shah for the Centre's support in addressing Left-Wing Extremism, stating that Odisha has now earned recognition as a "Naxal-free state." He said the improved security situation had created favourable conditions for socio-economic development, particularly in areas previously affected by Naxal activity. The Chief Minister also informed Shah that the state government was implementing Central and state welfare schemes in these regions under the Gramodaya Yojana to ensure inclusive development and improve the quality of life for local communities.

The Chief Minister also highlighted Odisha's rapid industrial growth over the past two years and requested the Centre's support in strengthening industrial security to encourage further investment. He thanked the Union government for its assistance in reviving the cooperative sector, particularly the restoration of sugar mills in the state. According to Majhi, the state government's focus on direct public outreach and prompt grievance redressal has helped strengthen public confidence in the administration.

Responding to the Chief Minister's presentation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the Odisha government's development and welfare initiatives and assured continued support from the Centre to help fulfil the aspirations of the people of the state. During his visit to New Delhi, Majhi also held separate meetings with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, NITI Aayog member K.V. Raju and representatives of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister to discuss infrastructure, economic development and other key issues concerning Odisha.
