Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday made a surprise on-site inspection in Dehradun to review a public grievance registered on the CM Helpline, pulling up officials over alleged negligence in restoring public infrastructure after utility work.
The Chief Minister visited the Jakhan area on Rajpur Road after a complaint was filed by local resident Vivek Madan regarding damage to a footpath. The complaint stated that the pavement had been dug up during underground cabling work undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), but was not properly restored afterward, leaving uneven tiles and an unusable walking stretch for pedestrians.
Instead of addressing the matter solely through administrative review, Dhami chose to inspect the site personally ahead of a scheduled CM Helpline review meeting. He walked along the affected stretch with the complainant to assess the condition on the ground and verify the extent of the damage.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister also made a video call to concerned officials, showing them the condition of the site and instructing them to take immediate corrective action. He emphasised the need for stronger coordination between departments to ensure that public works are completed properly and restored without causing inconvenience to citizens.
Dhami also flagged safety concerns, noting that in several areas, exposed electric wires were still visible despite claims of completed underground cabling work. He said such lapses not only inconvenience the public but also reflect poor planning and lead to unnecessary expenditure of public funds due to repeated repairs.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the negligence, the Chief Minister directed officials to resolve such complaints on priority and instructed the Chief Secretary to identify similar pending issues across the state for resolution through a statewide campaign. He also said he would continue conducting surprise inspections to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery.
During his visit, CM Dhami interacted with local residents and shopkeepers, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed promptly and that the government was committed to improving basic civic infrastructure and responsiveness to public grievances.
