Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit Islamabad on August 21 for a two-day visit to participate in the Pakistan-China strategic dialogue, according to a report by The Express Tribune. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and address key regional and international developments, with meetings planned with Pakistan’s civil and military leadership.
The high-level talks come at a critical juncture, following recent geopolitical shifts including the India-Pakistan conflict in May, the Iran-Israel war in June, and warming ties between Pakistan and the United States. Wang’s visit is expected to focus on deepening cooperation between China and Pakistan in this evolving geostrategic landscape, as both nations seek to reinforce their longstanding partnership.
Additionally, the visit will finalize the agenda for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming trip to China later this month, where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and hold bilateral meetings with Chinese leaders. The discussions are anticipated to cover strategic, economic, and diplomatic priorities, further solidifying the China-Pakistan alliance amid a complex regional environment.
