Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders to ensure a resounding success for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on May 2 to relaunch construction of the greenfield capital city, Amaravati.
Addressing NDA leaders from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Janasena in a teleconference, Naidu emphasized that Amaravati represents the “self-respect of the Telugu people” and called for a grand welcome to mark the occasion.
Naidu underscored the importance of a state capital that rivals Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, which drive 70% of their states’ economies.

“Amaravati is the soul of Andhra Pradesh,” he declared, highlighting its potential to generate significant revenue and foster pride among citizens. The relaunch follows years of delays under the previous YSR Congress government, which stalled the project initiated during Naidu’s 2014-2019 tenure. The NDA’s vision includes decentralized development, with central educational institutions established in North Andhra and Rayalaseema since 2014.
The Chief Minister instructed leaders to ensure a seamless experience for attendees at the public meeting, prioritizing their comfort and convenience. The event is expected to draw thousands, reflecting public enthusiasm for Amaravati’s revival as a modern, sustainable capital.
Naidu’s call to action signals the NDA’s commitment to restoring Andhra Pradesh’s economic and cultural stature, with Amaravati at its core, under Modi’s leadership.
