A devastating accident occurred at the Sinnar bus depot in Nashik on November 19, 2025, when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into passengers standing on the bus platform. Nine-year-old Adarsh Borhade from Dapur lost his life in the incident, while four others, including his mother Gauri Borhade, sustained serious injuries.
CCTV footage from the scene captured the bus entering the depot at moderate speed before veering uncontrollably onto the platform crowded with waiting passengers. The driver appeared to lose control while attempting to park the vehicle around 10:50 am. Emergency services arrived promptly, and injured passengers were rushed to a private hospital in Nashik for treatment.
The Sinnar police immediately detained the bus driver and registered a case of culpable homicide. An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the brake failure and to ascertain whether negligence or vehicle maintenance lapses contributed to the tragedy.

Following the accident, local residents, led by BJP leader Uday Sangle, protested by blocking the Pune highway demanding accountability and safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Police intervened to clear the blockade and ensure ambulance access to the hospital.
In response to the tragedy, MSRTC announced a compensation package of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the deceased child and pledged to bear medical expenses for all injured parties. The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter safety standards and regular maintenance checks of public transport vehicles.
