Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will undertake a State Visit to India from February 18-22 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday. During the visit, he will participate in the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on February 19-20, highlighting cooperation in emerging technologies.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the main day of the State Visit would be February 21, when President Lula will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi. The Brazilian leader will also be hosted by President Droupadi Murmu and meet several other dignitaries, including the Vice-President of India.
President Lula will be accompanied by key ministers and a business delegation. Several events have been scheduled during the visit to explore trade, investment, and technology partnerships, emphasizing the goal of deepening India-Brazil strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.

The State Visit follows a January 23 telephone call between the two leaders, in which they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership. Discussions covered trade, defence, health, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people ties, along with regional and global issues of mutual interest.
During PM Modi’s State Visit to Brazil in July last year, both leaders explored cooperation in emerging sectors, including AI, supercomputing, digital infrastructure, critical minerals, renewable energy, and mobility. The upcoming visit is expected to further institutionalize these initiatives and foster collaboration in innovation-driven fields.
This high-profile visit underscores India and Brazil’s shared focus on technology, sustainable development, and multilateral engagement, positioning both nations as key partners in addressing global challenges and advancing bilateral relations in the 21st century.
