Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary held a crucial closed-door meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday, barely days after the National Democratic Alliance registered a thumping majority in the Assembly elections. The thirty-minute discussion centred almost entirely on strengthening law and order and accelerating development projects across the state.
Sources close to the meeting revealed that Shah took personal interest in Bihar’s internal security architecture and handed over clear directives to Chaudhary, who now holds the pivotal Home portfolio in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet. The Centre has placed restoration of complete administrative control and elimination of criminal networks at the top of its priority list for the newly elected government.
Particular attention was paid to the sensitive Seemanchal region covering Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar and Araria districts, long identified by the BJP leadership as a corridor for illegal infiltration. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah had repeatedly highlighted the issue during the high-voltage campaign, promising decisive action against foreign nationals residing unlawfully in Bihar.

Political circles in Patna believe the meeting signals the beginning of a systematic and high-intensity operation to identify, detain and deport infiltrators, with central agencies expected to extend full intelligence and logistical support to the state police. Chaudhary has reportedly been tasked with delivering visible results within the first hundred days of the new government.
The swift move by the Centre underscores the electoral importance the ruling alliance attaches to fulfilling its promise of zero tolerance toward illegal migration, setting the stage for what many expect will be the most aggressive enforcement drive Bihar has witnessed in decades.
