A 21-year-old model from Bhopal, Khushboo Verma (Ahirwar), was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday, triggering widespread shock and a heated debate over possible foul play. The post-mortem report revealed that Khushboo was pregnant and suffered a rupture in her fallopian tube, leading to fatal internal bleeding. Police have so far attributed her death to complications arising from pregnancy, though her family alleges she was murdered by her live-in partner, Qasim, a resident of Ujjain.
According to police sources, Khushboo’s health deteriorated while she was traveling with Qasim from Ujjain to Bhopal in a bus near Bhainsakhedi on Indore Road. Qasim informed the driver and rushed her to a private hospital in an auto-rickshaw, where doctors declared her dead. He reportedly fled the scene soon after, but was later detained and is now in custody. During interrogation, Qasim told investigators that they had been in a relationship for nearly two years and began living together 16 months ago. “She was carrying my child. We planned to marry soon. I did not harm her in any way,” he stated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Mayur Khandelwal confirmed that no external injury marks were seen on Khushboo’s body. “The cause of death appears to be pregnancy-related complications. The viscera has been preserved for forensic testing to rule out other causes. Minor marks seen on the body might have resulted from handling or positioning,” he said. Investigators are looking into all possibilities, including medical negligence, domestic abuse, or assault.

Khushboo’s family, however, has rejected the medical explanation, insisting she was assaulted and killed. Her mother, Lakshmi Ahirwar, alleged that that Khushboo’s body was covered in bruises. “Her face was swollen, and there were blue marks and injuries on her body. She was brutally murdered,” the grieving mother said. Her sister echoed the claim, asserting that Khushboo had been strangled and demanding justice for her death. The family also recalled their last conversation with Qasim, in which he claimed Khushboo was safe before all communication ceased.
Popularly known online as @DiamondGirl, Khushboo Verma had built a following within Bhopal’s modelling community. She often shared fashion shoots and brand collaborations on social media and was considered one of the city’s promising young models. Having lived independently for three years, Khushboo balanced freelance projects with part-time work while pursuing her modelling career. As police await the forensic results, the investigation continues to explore all angles behind the tragic death of the young model.
