The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, greenlit transformative reforms on Friday to enhance technical education, internal security, child protection, and governance. The cabinet approved 34 new teaching and non-teaching posts for the Government Engineering College in Toru, Papum Pare, to strengthen technical education.
To bolster security, a new 6th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) was sanctioned, aiming to improve law and order, reduce reliance on Central forces, and create jobs for local youth. For child safety, model guidelines under the POCSO Act, 2012, were adopted with state-specific tweaks, ensuring support persons for child victims during legal processes.
New guidelines for transparent allocation of government quarters were introduced to curb misuse and encroachment. The cabinet also created 31 prosecution-related posts and revised pay structures for legal officers. Forensic science recruitment rules were updated, and 10 new civil aviation posts were approved. Additionally, veterinary officer posts were transferred to the animal husbandry department.
These measures underscore the state’s commitment to better governance, public welfare, and job creation, per a Chief Minister’s Office statement.
