The United States has deported notorious gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother and key overseas operative of jailed crime lord Lawrence Bishnoi, directly into the custody of India’s National Investigation Agency in a high-profile operation that highlights intensifying bilateral cooperation against transnational organised crime and terror-linked syndicates.
The US Embassy in New Delhi issued a formal statement on X, commending the seamless coordination between American and Indian security agencies. “We appreciate our ongoing partnership with India’s security agencies as we work together to dismantle terror-associated networks and hold criminals accountable,” the Embassy declared, adding that the deportation reflects a shared commitment to countering cross-border threats and ensuring the safety of citizens in both nations.
Anmol Bishnoi, designated as the 19th accused in multiple NIA terror cases and carrying a ₹10 lakh bounty on his head since earlier this year, was detained by US authorities before being swiftly expelled on Wednesday. Immediately upon arrival in India, he was formally arrested by the NIA, which had chargesheeted him in March 2023 in two separate 2022 cases involving terrorism, large-scale extortion, arms smuggling, and orchestrating targeted assassinations across northern India.

Investigators assert that Anmol served as the critical foreign-based commander of the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate while residing in the United States, actively recruiting shooters, arranging safe houses, routing funds, and issuing direct threats from abroad. His name has been directly linked to several sensational crimes, including the October 2024 murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai, the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence earlier this year, and the brutal 2022 assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
With Anmol Bishnoi now behind bars in India, the NIA is expected to subject him to intensive interrogation to dismantle remaining modules of the syndicate, which continues to operate through associates of designated terrorist Goldy Brar and other foreign-based handlers. The arrest is being viewed as a significant blow to one of India’s most dangerous organised crime networks and a testament to the growing effectiveness of Indo-US law-enforcement collaboration in neutralising threats that span continents.
