In response to the ongoing civil unrest in Nepal, the Andhra Pradesh government has established an Emergency Cell at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi to provide immediate assistance and ensure the safety of Telugu-speaking citizens affected by the situation. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to coordinate with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Andhra Bhavan staff to offer all possible support.
According to Andhra Bhavan Commissioner Arja Srikanth, the cell is operational to monitor and address the needs of stranded individuals, with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu providing full cooperation. Approximately 30 Telugu people in Bafal, Kathmandu, are currently receiving aid, including food, accommodation, and medical assistance. An official has been appointed as the emergency nodal officer to oversee operations, while the TDP-led government maintains constant communication with the Ministry of External Affairs and the embassy to track developments.
In a specific instance, Telugu families staying at a hotel in Kathmandu were relocated to a nearby guesthouse after reports of agitators gathering outside and posing threats of arson. The Emergency Cell is functioning round-the-clock, collaborating with local representatives and embassy personnel to safeguard the welfare of Telugu citizens and facilitate their safe return if necessary.
