Andhra Pradesh has established a state-of-the-art Cyber Security Operational Center (APCSOC) to bolster digital security across the state, officials announced on Tuesday. Mannava Mohana Krishna, Chairman of AP State Technology Services (APTS), said the initiative is designed to safeguard government departments, critical infrastructure, and citizens’ data while proactively detecting and mitigating cyber threats.
Speaking at a seminar on WhatsApp governance and cybersecurity at VR Siddhartha Engineering College, APTS officials highlighted the state’s growing digital initiatives. They noted that more than 1,000 government services are now accessible through the “Mana Mitra” WhatsApp platform, allowing citizens to access services instantly by messaging 95523 00009.
Officials emphasized the importance of cybersecurity awareness for the public. They cautioned against falling victim to cyber fraud, advised avoiding public Wi-Fi for banking transactions, and warned about downloading suspicious apps. Citizens are encouraged to report fraudulent activity to the helpline at 1930.

In addition to safeguarding digital services, APTS is working to develop local cybersecurity talent. The department conducts annual hackathons and offers internships to students and young professionals, providing a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000. These programs aim to equip the youth with practical skills to combat evolving cyber threats.
The launch of APCSOC comes amid a nationwide push toward digital governance, with states increasingly prioritizing cyber resilience as government services move online. By integrating technology, monitoring, and public awareness, Andhra Pradesh seeks to create a safer digital environment for both citizens and government operations.
With cybercrime on the rise, initiatives like APCSOC reflect the state’s commitment to protecting sensitive data and promoting responsible digital practices. Experts say that such measures, combined with public vigilance, are crucial in ensuring the integrity of India’s growing digital ecosystem.
