Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer declared on February 11, 2026, that the state has moved beyond the phase of revival and is now poised to lead India's next wave of industrial and technological growth. Addressing a joint session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature on the opening day of the Budget Session, the Governor emphasized that welfare, development, and governance have been aligned with future-ready models. He positioned Amaravati as the central hub of this transformation, highlighting the state's readiness to capitalize on emerging sectors such as quantum computing, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and advanced manufacturing.
The Governor's address framed the past 19 months under the current coalition government as a deliberate journey from resurgence to ascendance, guided by the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. This long-term roadmap aims to build a ₹308 lakh crore economy (approximately $3.4 trillion) with a per capita income of ₹55 lakh by 2047. Economic indicators for 2025-26 show progress, with the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) rising to ₹17.62 lakh crore from ₹15.91 lakh crore, reflecting a nominal growth of 10.75%. Per capita income increased to ₹2.95 lakh from ₹2.66 lakh, driven by strong sectoral performance: agriculture and allied sectors at 7.83%, industry at 9.53%, and services at 12.94%.
Key initiatives underscore the shift toward inclusive and sustainable growth. The government is advancing the Polavaram Project for completion by June 2027, reorganizing development around three regional hubs—Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati—and launching Amaravati Quantum Valley to position the state among global leaders in quantum technologies. Welfare measures include a Universal Health Coverage scheme offering ₹2.5 lakh insurance per individual and cashless treatment up to ₹25 lakh per BPL family. A zero-poverty approach through a Family Benefit Management System integrates schemes at the household level, while digital dashboards monitor departmental performance.

The Governor's remarks also touched on restoring financial stability after years of perceived misgovernance, with efforts focused on reducing borrowing costs and prioritizing reforms. Amaravati's revival has gained momentum through infrastructure financial closures and international cooperation, including agreements with Singapore on sustainable urban governance. The address called for collective participation to realize a "Wealthy, Healthy, and Happy" Andhra Pradesh aligned with India's developed nation goals by 2047.
The optimistic outlook sets the tone for the upcoming state budget, expected to outline detailed fiscal plans and policy measures supporting this ambitious trajectory. While the YSRCP reportedly staged a walkout during parts of the session, the Governor's speech reinforced the government's narrative of steady recovery and forward momentum in one of India's key southern states.
