A 26-year-old woman was killed after being struck by an Aston Martin in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area, following which police charged 21-year-old Lingamaneni Sanjush, the son of Rajya Sabha MP and businessman Lingamaneni Ramesh. Police said Sanjush was allegedly driving the luxury car at high speed and in a rash manner when it hit the woman as she was crossing the road near her workplace on August 16. The victim, identified as Bharathi Mukhi, worked as a saleswoman at the Lifestyle clothing store in Inorbit Mall.
According to Cyberabad police, Bharathi was crossing the road near the mall when the Aston Martin allegedly struck her. She sustained serious injuries in the collision and later died. The incident occurred in Madhapur, a busy commercial and residential area of Hyderabad that sees substantial traffic, particularly around major shopping and business establishments. Police subsequently began an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and identify the person who was driving the vehicle.
The Cyberabad area police identified Sanjush, 21, as the driver of the Aston Martin involved in the accident. Police alleged that the vehicle was being driven at high speed and in a rash manner at the time of the collision. Sanjush is the son of Lingamaneni Ramesh, a businessman and Rajya Sabha member associated with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party. The political and business background of the accused has drawn attention to the case, although the police action is based on the circumstances of the road accident and the allegations made in the investigation.

Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police Ch Sridhar said a notice had been served on Sanjush in connection with the case. The officer explained that the accused had not been arrested because the alleged offence is bailable and carries a maximum punishment of less than seven years. The police decision not to make an immediate arrest therefore follows the applicable legal provisions governing the offence. Sanjush remains subject to the investigation as police continue to examine the circumstances of the fatal collision.
The death of Bharathi has brought renewed attention to road safety and the risks faced by pedestrians in busy parts of Hyderabad. Pedestrians crossing roads near commercial establishments can be particularly vulnerable when vehicles are travelling at high speeds. In this case, police are examining the circumstances in which the vehicle allegedly struck Bharathi and are gathering evidence relevant to the case. The investigation will determine the precise sequence of events and whether the allegations of rash and high-speed driving are supported by the available evidence. The incident also highlights the legal process that follows fatal road accidents involving allegations of rash or negligent driving.
Police must establish the circumstances of the crash and determine the applicable offences based on evidence gathered during the investigation. The serving of a notice to Sanjush allows the accused to participate in the investigation while the case proceeds under the relevant legal provisions. Further action will depend on the findings of the Cyberabad police and the evidence collected. Bharathi’s death has left her family and colleagues mourning the loss of a young woman who was working at a prominent retail outlet in Hyderabad. Police have not said that Sanjush has been arrested, and the case remains under investigation. Authorities are expected to continue examining the evidence surrounding the August 16 collision as they proceed with the case against the 21-year-old driver.
