A shocking murder case has emerged from Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, where a woman and her alleged lover have been accused of killing her 15-year-old son after he reportedly objected to their relationship. The crime, which remained concealed for several weeks, was uncovered following an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The incident took place in Adoni town, with investigators alleging that the victim was murdered and secretly buried to hide evidence of the crime.
According to police, the victim, identified as Veerendra, was a resident of G. Hosalli village in Adoni mandal. Investigators allege that his mother, Gangamma, was involved in a relationship with a man identified as Dargappa. Police said the teenager had repeatedly questioned his mother's conduct and had openly spoken about the relationship to relatives and villagers, leading to frequent disputes within the family. Authorities believe these tensions ultimately became the motive behind the alleged murder.
Police claim that after the killing, the accused attempted to conceal the crime by burying Veerendra's body in a graveyard located on the outskirts of the village. In an effort to divert suspicion, Gangamma allegedly filed a missing person complaint and actively participated in search efforts. She also approached the High Court, claiming delays in the investigation and seeking directions for authorities to locate her son, according to investigators.

The case took a significant turn after the high court's intervention led to the formation of a special investigation team to expedite the probe. During the investigation, officers reportedly identified inconsistencies in the statements provided by Gangamma and Dargappa. Technical evidence, call records, local witness accounts, and other investigative findings raised suspicions regarding their involvement in the teenager's disappearance.
Investigators said scientific evidence and witness testimonies played a crucial role in uncovering the alleged crime. Following sustained questioning and surveillance, police identified the suspected burial site. On June 1, authorities exhumed Veerendra's remains from the village graveyard in the presence of revenue officials, medical personnel, and security personnel. The body was subsequently sent for postmortem examination to determine further details related to the death.
Police have taken Dargappa into custody and are continuing their investigation to gather additional evidence and establish the full sequence of events. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether further arrests will be made as the inquiry progresses. The case has drawn significant attention in the region due to the serious allegations, the alleged attempt to mislead investigators, and the role played by the Special Investigation Team in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.
