Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit poll-bound Bihar from October 16 to 18, a key period when political activity, including the filing of nomination papers, is expected to intensify, said BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal on Monday. Shah’s visit comes as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gears up for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, slated in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
Addressing a press conference, Jaiswal said that the NDA is in the final stages of candidate announcements, with hopefuls for all five constituencies expected to be declared soon. “Over the next four days, filing of nomination papers will be completed for all 243 assembly seats in the state,” he added. The period is seen as critical for energising the party base and consolidating electoral strategies.
Jaiswal also indicated that several senior BJP leaders, including chief ministers from about a dozen states and other Union ministers, are likely to visit Bihar during this period to boost the morale of NDA candidates. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also hold rallies in the state, underscoring the central leadership’s focus on Bihar ahead of the polls. Details of Shah’s itinerary and engagements in the state will be shared in due course.
