Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, outlining a series of welfare and governance promises, including monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000 for women and the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code within six months of coming to power.
Unveiling the document in Kolkata, Shah said the manifesto reflects the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment and legal reform. The proposed scheme for women is aimed at providing direct financial support, which the party claims will improve household stability and economic independence. The announcement is being seen as a key electoral pitch targeting women voters across the state.
Another major highlight of the manifesto is the promise to introduce a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months. The proposal seeks to replace personal laws based on religion with a common set of civil laws governing matters such as marriage, divorce, and inheritance. The BJP has consistently advocated for the UCC, framing it as a step toward equality and national integration.

The manifesto also outlines broader development goals, including job creation, infrastructure expansion, and improved law and order. Shah accused the incumbent government of failing to deliver on governance and alleged widespread corruption, positioning the BJP’s vision as an alternative focused on transparency and growth.
Political analysts note that the manifesto combines welfare-driven schemes with long-standing ideological commitments, reflecting the BJP’s dual strategy of appealing to both economic and cultural concerns of voters. The ₹3,000 monthly assistance promise, in particular, is expected to intensify competition among parties offering direct benefit schemes.
With elections approaching, the release of the manifesto marks a significant step in the BJP’s campaign in West Bengal. As parties sharpen their messaging, voter response to such promises will likely play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the closely contested polls.
