Union Home Minister Amit Shah has sharply criticized the Congress party and its Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for flooding social media with video reels, dismissing them as mere “program management” aimed at creating an “illusion” among the public. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Shah underscored a stark contrast between genuine public communication and orchestrated media campaigns, accusing Congress of resorting to superficial tactics following repeated electoral setbacks.
“There is a big difference between managing a program and communicating with the public,” Shah stated, emphasizing that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) direct engagement with citizens far surpasses Congress’s efforts. He accused the opposition of attempting to mislead the public through carefully curated social media content, particularly highlighting the proliferation of Rahul Gandhi’s video reels. “They want to create a kind of illusion among the people. And they will definitely not succeed, because our direct interaction with the people is many times greater than theirs,” Shah asserted.
Shah further lambasted Congress for its growing “frustration” after losing three consecutive elections, suggesting that this has clouded Rahul Gandhi’s judgment. “We talk to the people. We haven’t just come here and sat by chance. After losing three elections, I think the level of frustration is such that the normal sense of judgment, he has lost it,” he remarked. The Home Minister’s comments reflect the BJP’s confidence in its grassroots connect and its narrative of effective governance, contrasting it with what Shah portrays as Congress’s reliance on media manipulation.

The remarks come amid an increasingly polarized political landscape, where social media has become a battleground for shaping public perception. Congress’s aggressive push to promote Rahul Gandhi through short, engaging video content has drawn significant attention, but Shah’s critique frames these efforts as a desperate attempt to regain relevance. As the BJP continues to dominate national politics, Shah’s statements signal a broader strategy to undermine the opposition’s credibility by questioning the authenticity of its outreach.
The ongoing war of words highlights the critical role of communication strategies in Indian politics, with both parties vying to capture the public’s trust. While Congress seeks to leverage digital platforms to rebuild its image, Shah’s pointed criticism underscores the BJP’s belief in its superior connection with voters, setting the stage for a contentious political discourse ahead of future electoral battles.
