The factory was allegedly operating without a valid license, raising concerns over safety violations and illegal manufacturing activities. Firecracker units require strict safety measures due to the highly explosive materials involved, and authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances that led to the blast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Ahmedabad firecracker factory accident and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families. The Prime Minister’s Office said an ex gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased person, while those injured would receive Rs 50,000.
