Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province, was rocked by at least seven explosions over a 24-hour period, escalating fears and uncertainty across its major cities, including Quetta and Dera Murad Jamali. Despite the scale of the attacks, no fatalities have been reported so far; however, two security personnel were injured at a construction site, highlighting the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups in the region.
The violence began on Saturday when insurgents launched hand grenades at a police checkpoint in Quetta, quickly followed by an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting an Anti-Terrorism Department vehicle. Subsequent explosions damaged critical infrastructure, including a main railway line on the outskirts of Quetta, severely disrupting train services and complicating regional connectivity. Senior Superintendent of Police Asif Khan confirmed that the explosives were strategically placed to maximize disruption and spread fear among residents.
Additional attacks targeted a construction company site on Sariab Road, where hand grenades damaged machinery and injured two security guards. Another grenade attack occurred on a patrolling police vehicle in Dera Murad Jamali, underscoring the broad geographic reach of the insurgent operations. The attackers, often seen riding motorcycles, also struck police stations in Quetta’s Manzoor Shaheed and Kech Beg areas, with one grenade diffused before detonation by bomb disposal experts.

No group has claimed responsibility for the recent surge in violence yet, but ongoing insurgency activity resumed aggressively on Sunday morning, signaling a potential intensification of unrest. Security forces remain on high alert as they attempt to contain the threat and restore stability to the restive province, which has long faced challenges from separatist militants and other armed factions.
