A 24-year-old man, Arun Lohia, was shot dead in broad daylight near Chhatarpur Metro Station in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Thursday, around 1 pm, by two motorcycle-borne assailants, police said.
The attack, linked to an old enmity stemming from a property dispute, occurred near CDR Chowk as Arun and his father, Ramveer Lohia, drove in a black Scorpio SUV, returning from a court hearing related to an attempt-to-murder case against Arun.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said the assailants stopped the SUV, approached the driver’s window, and fired at least 10 rounds at Arun.

Ramveer tried to intervene, but the attackers fled. A Delhi Traffic Police inspector rushed Arun to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival due to profuse bleeding.
Police sources revealed that Arun and the accused, from the same village, had a history of conflict, with Arun allegedly firing at one of the assailants last year over the property dispute. CCTV footage of the incident has been secured, and the area was cordoned off as multiple police teams launched a manhunt.
The brazen shooting caused panic among commuters and locals. An eyewitness near CDR Chowk reported seeing the assailants flee and expressed confidence in the police’s ability to apprehend them, despite the area’s alarm.
Police have intensified investigations, leveraging CCTV evidence to track the suspects in this targeted attack.
