The 1st World Yogasana Sports Championship is set to begin in Ahmedabad on June 4, marking a major milestone in the global recognition of Yogasana as a competitive sport. The five-day international event will be hosted at the EKA Arena and is expected to bring together 400 athletes from more than 60 countries, making it one of the largest global gatherings dedicated to Yogasana competition.
The championship will feature participants from countries including the United States, Ghana, Kenya, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan. Competitions will be held across multiple formats such as traditional Yogasana, artistic events, rhythmic pairs, and team categories, highlighting both the athletic and artistic dimensions of the discipline.
India will field a strong contingent of 122 athletes across various age groups, ranging from sub-junior categories (10–14 years) to senior divisions up to 55 years. Organisers say the event is designed to promote inclusivity and provide a structured global platform for Yogasana practitioners of all age groups and skill levels.

They believe the event will help position Yogasana as a globally recognised sport while showcasing India’s cultural and sporting heritage on the international stage.
