Actor Richa Chadha celebrated Onam with her daughter Zuneyra at the Gurupuram Sree Maha Vishnu Temple in Keralam. The actor attended the festivities in person and presented the temple with a life-sized mechanical elephant named Gurupuram Arjunan. Richa was accompanied by her daughter during the ceremony, which also featured traditional cultural performances.
Dressed in a white-and-gold sari, Richa was seen with Zuneyra, who wore a traditional Onam outfit. The mother-daughter duo took part in the unveiling of the mechanical elephant, followed by a Chenda Melam performance and a Thiruvathira dance. Temple officials, devotees and other guests were also present during the celebrations.
Richa described the occasion as a meaningful way to celebrate Onam while introducing her daughter to Keralam’s traditions and festive customs. She spoke about the importance of preserving cultural practices while making celebrations more compassionate towards animals. The actor also expressed gratitude to the temple trustees for accepting the mechanical elephant as a gift.

The actor also spoke about her connection with the festival and the significance of celebrating it with the local community. She highlighted themes associated with Onam, including togetherness, abundance, gratitude and community spirit. Richa also joined the celebrations and enjoyed the traditional Onam Sadhya with those present at the temple.
Temple President Kunhiraman Ayyangav, General Secretary K.K. Ram, Treasurer Rajeevan, K. Savithri, recipient of the 2026 Kerala State Farm Award for Karshakathilakam, and devotees participated in the festivities. The mechanical elephant is intended to provide an alternative for temple ceremonies while allowing traditional celebrations involving elephants to continue without requiring a live animal.
On the work front, Richa was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which streamed on Netflix India. Following her maternity break, she has signed a new comedy written by Amitosh Nagpal. Her upcoming projects also include the dramedy Akhri Somvaar, which she is producing and starring in, as well as the Indo-British drama Aaina, marking her international acting debut.
