In a poignant ceremony at the Indian Air Force Station in Jammu, the nation paid tribute to Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand, a brave soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice while battling terrorists in the dense Seoj Dhar forest of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. The wreath-laying event, led by White Knight Corps Chief of Staff Major General P S Dagar, honored Chand’s courage as his mortal remains were flown to his hometown in Himachal Pradesh for final rites.
The solemn ceremony, attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, and several civil officers, underscored the soldier’s valor. “His supreme sacrifice stands as a beacon of courage and duty, inspiring future generations,” the Army declared in a heartfelt post on X, reflecting the nation’s gratitude for Chand’s bravery.
Chand was fatally injured late Friday evening during a fierce encounter when terrorists ambushed a joint search party of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group in the rugged Kanji area, straddling Udhampur’s Dudu-Basantgarh and Doda’s Bhaderwah. Despite being rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service.

As the nation mourns, a massive anti-terror operation in the region entered its third day on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Multiple search teams, equipped with advanced drones and sniffer dogs, are scouring the challenging terrain and thick foliage to track down the terrorists. No fresh contact with the militants has been reported, but the operation remains intense as security forces work to neutralize the threat.
