On Children’s Day 2025, celebrated on November 14 to honour India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, two major travel companies have rolled out special initiatives that empower young travellers while prioritising their safety and well-being. Uber and Air India have introduced features designed to give children greater independence on the ground and healthier entertainment in the air.
Uber has expanded its popular Teens and Family feature by now allowing teenagers to create and manage their own accounts with just one-time guardian approval. The update removes the earlier requirement for parents to set up accounts on behalf of teens, making it easier for young users to book safe, supervised rides. Real-time trip tracking, PIN verification, and RideCheck safety tools remain active, ensuring parents retain full visibility and control.
“Today’s teens are digital natives and early adopters. We want to meet them where they are while keeping safety first,” said Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth at Uber India and South Asia. The move is aimed at multi-generational households, enabling everyone — from teenagers to senior citizens — to use the same family profile confidently.

Meanwhile, Air India has partnered with children’s audio platform Vobble to launch 57 hours of screen-free entertainment exclusively for young flyers aged 4–12. Available on the airline’s wireless Vista Stream system, the ad-free library features beloved characters like Suppandi and Shambu alongside science adventures, mysteries, comedy shows, quizzes, and mindfulness sessions.
The collaboration addresses growing parental concerns about excessive screen exposure during flights, offering an engaging audio-only alternative that stimulates imagination and reduces digital fatigue. As families take to the skies this festive season, Air India’s new offering ensures children stay entertained the healthier way — through the power of stories and sound.
