Flipkart has launched its new Flipkart Pay Later service in India, introducing a flexible credit option that allows customers to make purchases and repay the amount through multiple payment plans. The service is available across Flipkart, Myntra and Flipkart Minutes, enabling shoppers to access credit directly at the checkout. The e-commerce company has partnered with PayU Finance, the non-banking financial company (NBFC) arm of PayU, to roll out the offering.
According to Flipkart, the new service provides three repayment options to cater to different purchasing needs. The first is the Pay Later option, which allows customers up to 30 days to repay the amount spent on everyday purchases. The second, Pay in 3, enables users to split the purchase value into three instalments. The third option offers Equated Monthly Instalment (EMI) plans ranging from three to 12 months, making it easier to finance higher-value purchases.
The EMI facility is designed for products such as smartphones, consumer electronics, home appliances and furniture. It can also be used for frequent lower-value purchases across categories including groceries through Flipkart Minutes, fashion, beauty, home products and general merchandise. By integrating these repayment options into the checkout process, Flipkart aims to provide customers with greater flexibility while shopping across its platforms.

Flipkart already supports a wide range of payment methods, including Unified Payments Interface (UPI), digital wallets, credit and debit cards, net banking, EMI transactions and cash on delivery (COD) for eligible products and locations. Customers can also use Flipkart gift cards and vouchers during checkout. The introduction of Flipkart Pay Later expands the company's portfolio of payment solutions as it seeks to enhance the online shopping experience.
The launch comes ahead of Flipkart's annual Freedom Sale, which is scheduled to begin on August 8. Flipkart Plus and Flipkart Black members are expected to receive 24-hour early access starting August 7. During the sale, customers making purchases with SBI credit cards will be eligible for a 10 percent instant discount. The company has not yet announced the closing date of the sale.
