Gold prices remained in focus on Monday, July 27, as investors and consumers tracked the latest rates of the precious metal across major Indian cities. According to data from Bullion.co.in, the price of 24-carat gold stood at Rs 1,43,780 per 10 grams, while silver was priced at Rs 2,22,870 per kilogram around 6:30 am. In the Indian market, 22-carat gold was trading at Rs 1,31,798 per 10 grams, reflecting the ongoing strength in precious metal prices.
Gold continues to remain a preferred investment option among consumers, especially during periods of economic uncertainty, with demand influenced by global market trends, currency movements and domestic buying patterns. Over the past month, 24-carat gold prices have recorded a marginal decline of around 0.55 per cent. However, the yellow metal has delivered strong returns over the longer term, gaining more than 46 per cent in the past year.
The rise has been supported by factors such as global economic concerns, investor demand for safe-haven assets and expectations around monetary policy decisions. Among major Indian cities, Chennai reported the highest gold and silver prices on Monday, while Delhi recorded the lowest rates among the top metropolitan markets. Gold prices vary across cities due to differences in local taxes, transportation costs, market conditions and other regional factors.

Gold prices in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru are closely monitored by consumers, jewellers and investors. The rates play an important role in purchase decisions, particularly during festivals, weddings and major occasions when demand for gold traditionally increases. The international gold market continues to influence domestic prices, with global economic developments, interest rate expectations and geopolitical conditions affecting investor sentiment.
When uncertainty rises in financial markets, gold often attracts demand as a store of value, which can push prices higher. Silver prices have also witnessed increased attention due to their industrial and investment demand. The metal is widely used in sectors such as electronics, renewable energy and manufacturing, while also remaining a popular choice among investors and consumers. Market participants are expected to closely watch upcoming economic indicators and global developments for further direction on precious metal prices.
While gold has seen some short-term fluctuations, its strong yearly performance has kept it among the most closely tracked commodities in India. Consumers planning to buy gold are advised to check daily rates before making purchases, as prices can change frequently depending on market movements. Apart from the base price, buyers should also consider additional charges such as making charges, taxes and other costs applied by jewellers while purchasing gold jewellery.
